Pre-Mission Year
Hello, and welcome to my blog!
My name is Michaela Lohr and I have chosen to answer my call as a student missionary this upcoming year. I am a Junior attending Southern Adventist University, where I have been studying Biology with a Biomedical emphasis.
I grew up as a missionary kid in Nigeria, and through that experience, it became my dream to pursue long term missions. Don't get me wrong: living overseas wasn't easy. In Nigeria, we only had electricity for about six hours a day - and we didn't know which six hours of the day that would be. We ran out of water many times during those years. But the miracles that we lived through and the way we saw God work in our lives was an experience I would never trade for the world.
I feel that God has called me to serve, help those in need, and share Christ's love wherever I may be. This past summer, my family and I traveled back to Nigeria to revisit our old home for the first time in 12 years.
This year, I will be located at Heri Adventist Hospital in Tanzania, the same hospital my dad went to when he was a student missionary 25 years ago! I will be there along with two other student missionaries. We will be helping in ministry for the church, nursing school, nearby elementary school, and hospital.
I am so, so excited for this amazing opportunity and experience, and I can't wait to share!
I will be praying for God to lead you in every step this year! Love you 🥰
